Our base should be on the South Pole of the moon in Shackleton Crater. There said to be some water ice in the crater. It is the only form of water known on the moon. We could melt and purify the water ice. And water is far more important than just drinking - we could experiment growing plants on the Moon. If there is extra water, we could bring it back to Earth. Also, there is almost direct sunlight on the South Pole in the day. It could give us a lot of energy for the long lunar night - extending astronauts’ days. Astronauts will have longer to investigate materials on the lunar surface. This might be the only way for people to thrive and experiment. This is the first step to build a self-sustaining moon colony. We will build the rest of the Moon Colony (greenhouse, solar panels etc.) on the lunar surface.
