Moon Camp 19 - 25 (inclusive)


With Moon Camp, the Airbus Foundation, in partnership with Autodesk, challenge students to take part in the future exploration of space by designing a human shelter on the Moon! The students will have to design a 3D Moon Camp able to sustain the lives of at least two astronauts, taking into account:

  • the use of local resources, such as lunar soil and ice
  • technological solutions, such as power sources, a recycling system, a food growth chamber
  • protection from meteorites and radiation.

1st prize - $1,000 USD and Mentoring Session (skype call) with one of the judges from the Airbus Foundation and/or Autodesk to review your design!

2nd prize - $750 USD and Mentoring Session (skype call) with one of the judges from the Airbus Foundation and/or Autodesk to review your design!

3rd prize - $500 USD

All cash prizes will be paid via PayPal.  Your country of residence must allow PayPal transactions originating in the United States to be elligible to receive cash prizes.

Awarding the Winners:

  • The awarded participant is solely liable for the payment of all taxes, duties and other similar measures if imposed on the reward pursuant to the legislation of the country of his/her residence, domicile, citizenship, workplace, or any other criterion of similar nature.
  • All judging decisions are final.
  • All Winners will be contacted by Autodesk to collect student contact information and any other information needed to send the prize to a winner. Payment of cash awards is made through PayPal.
  • Winning designs will be chosen based on the Official Rules. Void where prohibited.


The window of submissions is open from 1 November 2018 and closes 18 March 2019, 11:59pm CET.
You may begin working on your submission, and come back to this site to edit and update your entry up to the closing deadline.
Online Form questions will appear on November 21st, be sure to update your entry after that date.

Judging Information

Judges from Airbus, and Autodesk will judge your entries based on the following criteria:

  • Innovation, creativity and inventiveness (30%): How well does this new design “push the envelope” and enhance user experience?
  • Software skills (20%): How well does the student design demonstrate technical skills and quality of design submitted based on technical requirements?
  • Suitability to purpose (20%): How well does the design prove useful and suited to serving its purpose, providing a positive user experience?
  • Online Form (30%): How well do the answers to the form explain and support reasoning for design choices and overall habitability of the Moon camp?
